Crown Estate Scotland has recently announced the results of the ScotWind first leasing round, awarding leases to 17 offshore wind projects. The results demonstrate the huge opportunity that Scotland and the UK has as a whole to transform its energy market, working towards net zero pledges.

The successful parties, selected out of a total of 74 applications, are proposing a variety of fixed foundation and floating offshore projects. A total of just £700m will be paid by the successful applications on option fees and passed to the Scottish Government for public spending, demonstrating a major investment in the Scottish economy. As well as initial indications suggesting a multi-billion pound supply chain investments. The area of seabed covered by the selected 17 projects is just over 7000m square.
