In February 2024, Global Maritime celebrated a significant milestone with the successful completion of marine warranty services (MWS) for the installation of 111 wind turbine generators (WTGs) on Ørsted’s Greater Changhua 1 and 2a offshore wind farms, Taiwan.

Greater Changhua 1 and 2a is the first windfarm to be constructed on the Greater Changhua zone, located in the Taiwan Strait.

Throughout the project's two-year duration, spanning from March 2022 through to February 2024, Global Maritime’s project team in APAC have leveraged the company’s extensive offshore wind farm (OWF) experience and applied lessons learnt from our global portfolio.

The close collaboration of Global Maritime’s APAC, UK, and German offices facilitated seamless technical oversight and ongoing support to our client and underwriter, ensuring the project's success amidst stringent pandemic control measures, limited global vessel availability and extreme environmental conditions. From the inaugural loadout operation to the final WTG installation, this project demonstrates the capabilities of the Global Maritime Team in supporting our client in offshore wind farm developments in Asia under adverse conditions.

At Global Maritime we are serious about the challenges of the sea and their associated risks. Our dedicated team are passionate about finding practical solutions to meet whatever challenges our clients face. The completion of installation work of Greater Changhua 1 and 2a is a testament to the great fortitude and dedication of all project parties involved.

The APAC team at Global Maritime look forward to utilising their experience in future projects as the race to net zero in APAC advances.
