Fred. Olsen Seawind Limited and Vattenfall, the ScotWind-winning joint venture partners, have appointed Global Maritime (GM) to provide engineering and consultancy services in support of Muir Mhòr Offshore Wind Farm, one of the world’s first commercially viable floating wind projects.
Having been awarded seabed rights in the January 2022 ScotWind auction, the Muir Mhòr Offshore Wind Farm project is being developed on an accelerated programme in order to support the UK Government’s target of generating 5GW from floating offshore wind by 2030. Located 65 km east of Peterhead on the Aberdeenshire coast, the site’s deep-water conditions are well-suited to floating turbine technology.
Global Maritime will provide engineering and consultancy expertise pertaining to the various nearby ports and logistics options being explored for the execution phase of the project. GM’s scope will cover key aspects of the project such as Wet Storage, Integration & Installation, Mooring & Anchoring concepts, Mooring & IAC Optimisation, Floater Assembly & WTG Marshalling/Integration Processes.
GM will manage the project out of its Glasgow office, enabling a locally based project delivery. GM will deliver the scope entirely through its in-house specialist engineering and consultancy, with the project drawing on GM’s multi-discipline teams, including geosciences, marine operations, and engineering & software.
