Global Maritime Poland has successfully completed its delivery of electrical design and engineering services on the Multi-Purpose Pontoon (MPP) – NB131, in collaboration with ‘StoGda Design and Engineering’. This pontoon is set to play a pivotal role as one of the primary vessels in the construction of the longest submerged Fehmarnbelt Tunnel, linking Denmark with Germany.

On October 9th, 2023, Crist S.A. Gdynia delivered the specialized “MPP – NB131” unit to FLC Shipowner. The Multi-Purpose pontoon, equipped with a submerged dumping tool, is a specialized barge designed for accurately laying gravel bed foundations on the seabed at depths of up to 40 meters. It can be likened to the largest 3D printer in the world due to its precise and controlled seabed construction capabilities.

Global Maritime Poland was selected to contribute its expertise in offshore electrical engineering through a collaborative partnership with StoGda Design and Engineering. As listed below, GM’s scope of work included design services, as well the provision of support in the integration of this complex project, assisting the yard and various suppliers in the integration of all electrical and automation designs.

Services delivered by GM on the Multi-Purpose Pontoon (MPP) – NB131 unit:

  • Basic design documentation for Class Approval (Navigation lights arrangement, fire detection system arrangement, public address and general alarm arrangement, ships main electrical one line diagram, electrical load balance, lighting arrangements including lighting intensity calculations, main cable ways concept.)
  • Detailed design diagrams and electrical system integration.
  • Workshop diagrams for cable installation.
  • Detailed cable list that included cable routing plan based on 3d modeling software.
  • On-site supervision and as-built documentation.

“We are extremely proud to be involved in such a milestone project” stated Piotr Gussmann, Country Manager at Global Maritime Poland. “This project was a great opportunity to demonstrate our breadth of electrical design capabilities and provide key inputs to ensure a successful integration".
