Henrik Skogen is an MWS Project Manager responsible for overseeing the full Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) process, providing both technical and commercial advisory support across complex marine, construction, and transport operations.

Experienced in risk management, stakeholder coordination, and end-to-end project oversight, including communication management, documentation control, client meetings, invoicing, project planning, budgeting, and monthly reporting.

How has your career evolved at Global Maritime?

I began my journey as a Senior Engineer in the Engineering department. Over time, I transitioned into the role of Project Manager within the MWS team, where I now lead complex projects across onshore and offshore operations. My experience spans onshore heavy lifting, rigging, transport, loading operations, and seafastening, as well as offshore subsea installation, heavy lifting, weather assessment, certification documentation, and jack-up movements.

What inspired you to pursue a career within the industry?

I have always been fascinated by the ocean, waves and forces on the vessels. This curiosity led me to pursue a master’s thesis in Marine Technology at the University of Trondheim in Norway, one of the world’s leading institutions in this field. The standards were very high, and at times it was challenging, but I learned an important lesson: with effort comes results. This mindset has stayed with me throughout my career. At Global Maritime, I work on complex projects every day. With focus and patience, the pieces gradually come together, leading to successful project delivery and, ultimately, a satisfied client.

Tell us a bit about your current role and what it entails?

In my role, I manage all aspects of a MWS project - from preparing monthly reports and overseeing budgets to document reviews and offshore attendance. I enjoy being involved in every stage because it gives me a complete understanding of the bigger picture.

I also track the review status for the team, ensuring that any delays are addressed quickly by reallocating resources so we can deliver as promised. When I’m onshore or offshore, witnessing the transport of large, heavy equipment or attending the installation of complex subsea structures, I gain first-hand insight into the realities of the industry. This experience is invaluable for both me and Global Maritime, as it strengthens our expertise and supports future projects.

How did shifts in the industry during 2025 influence your role, and how did you adapt?

I noticed a significant change in industry demand, which inspired me to explore a new path beyond engineering. This led me to transition into a Project Manager role within MWS. I truly enjoy the responsibilities that come with being a Project Manager and the opportunity to take ownership of larger projects.

Could you share something exciting you're currently working on?

There’s a lot happening right now! We’re managing multiple projects simultaneously, including transport, installation, and heavy-lift operations scheduled over the next 1–3 years. Global Maritime will be closely involved, witnessing and attending much of this work, and I’ll be leading several of these projects. I’m especially looking forward to the upcoming offshore season and the opportunity to represent GM on-site.
