How do four decades of experience in mooring design help future-proof floating offshore wind and deliver for decades to come?

Mooring systems for floating offshore wind can be highly complex, however, Global Maritime draws on extensive experience in mooring design and analysis across various sectors, providing practical solutions based on industry demand.

Capitalising on the expertise of our mariners and operations personnel, we are able to provide practical mooring design solutions based on industry demand. We advise our clients on developing specifications, equipment procurement and in-mooring installations, because clarity is key when it comes to complexity.

Our expertise spans applications such as drilling rigs, accommodation vessels, FPSOs, pipelay vessels, installation vessels, and FOWTs. We utilise various industry standard software such as GMoor, Orcaflex, Optimoor, MOSES etc. in the mooring design based on specific client requirements. In addition to design & analysis, Global maritime also prepares rig move procedures and plans the mooring installation operations, and, with the help of our Geosciences team, we evaluate and advise on various anchor solutions depending on site-specific soil conditions.

Providing Industry Standard Solutions

Global Maritime identified the need for mooring analysis software early on and, as a result, developed GMoor, now an industry standard used by independent consultants, drilling contractors, equipment suppliers, and energy companies.

Due to the need of effective screening studies at a very early stage of design, we are presently developing GMoor-Wind to handle challenges specific to floating wind, and uur in-house software GM-OPSIM plays a pivotal role in planning of installation campaigns for pre-lay moorings and hook-up operations.

Transferable Technology

Global Maritime's extensive experience from the Oil & Gas sector to the floating offshore wind sector is directly transferable to mooring installation, wet storage mooring, anchor selection, and marine operations in general.

GMoor and specialist software complements Global Maritime’s work in floating offshore wind mooring design. Alongside GMoor, Orcaflex and other specialist software are employed in various mooring design situations such as wet storage, quayside, and in-place mooring designs.

With the programming interface in Orcaflex, we are able to prepare the pipeline of automatic workflows to perform complex calculations. With the help of in-house and cloud based multicore machines and clusters; we can perform efficient calculations that save both time and money for our clients.

Sustainable Solutions

Global Maritime remains competitive due to our commitment to research and development initiatives focused on advancing mooring design practices. We continue to develop additional functionality for in-house mooring software GMoor with ambitions to have a tailor-made solution that can quicky iterate on different mooring designs and automate the mooring design process.

Global Maritime thrives on innovative, collaborative thinking, approaching every solution with a climate-conscious approach.
