Following the launch of the Global Maritime Geoscience business unit at the start of July, key technical lead roles have been filled and a local presence has been established in Newcastle upon Tyne in Northeast England; widely regarded as the epicentre of the UK offshore wind supply chain and with a long history in oil and gas.

Liam Murray joins as GIS Technical Lead following key roles in Vattenfall and specialist geoconsultancy spanning a decade. “I am thrilled to have joined such a capable geosciences team. Global Maritime are well-known and trusted within the marine industry, and we intend to deliver an even broader scope with complimentary disciplines, making our geosciences offering unique within the sector. I’m looking forward to developing the team further and helping to roll out our new geoscience capability to customers across the world."

Matthew Laing joins as Subsea Cable Technical Lead with over 12 years’ experience as a civil and geotechnical engineer in the offshore sector across oil and gas, and offshore renewables. “It's great to be part of this new geoscience team within GM, assisting with the business streams already core to their business while also serving external clients with our expertise in the sector and global reach. I'm very much looking forward to being part of the growth of the team and achieving great things. We have already hit the ground running and there are very exciting times ahead.”

GM Geo’s Geotechnical Lead joins at the end of October and further recruitment of technical discipline leads are ongoing.

Global Maritime have established a presence in ‘The Core’ which is part of the landmark, state-of-the-art Helix Quarter redevelopment of Newcastle upon Tyne, focussing on technology, research, innovation and sustainability.

Gareth Ellery, Global Geosciences Lead, commented “The Core and the Helix development as a whole is a very good fit for our business which holds innovation and sustainability at the very centre of what we do, whilst providing an excellent work environment for the team.”
