Amid the ongoing geopolitical challenges and exceptional circumstances facing the Middle East, the urgency to secure increased domestic natural gas demand for Egypt has never been greater. In response, Burullus Gas Company, the joint venture with Shell, has successfully accelerated the first gas production from the Sienna De and Sparrow West-1 wells — achieving startup ahead of schedule in June 2025 and July 2025 respectively. These two wells, located at water depths between 600 and 880 meters, form a critical part of the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) Phase XI Project. Together, they contribute just over 80 MMSCF per day to the company’s production plateau.

Global Maritime is proud to have successfully played a vital role in achieving such milestone, delivering comprehensive Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) services, covering vessels inspections, engineering reviews, and on-site attendance for both onshore and offshore operations.

“We are honored to support Burullus Gas Company and Shell in this strategic project. Their expertise in natural gas exploration is unparalleled, and we are proud to contribute to a project that builds on the success of Phase X, completed in 2024 - which marked a significant milestone with the exclusive use of domestic marine units for the first time in WDDM’s history.” said Mohamed Ismail, Country Manager of Global Maritime Egypt.

The West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) Concession is located approximately ninety (90) kilometers offshore Egypt, on the north-western margin of the Nile Delta and being Operated by Shell and its JV Company “Burullus Gas Company”. The region contains substantial gas reserves distributed among several reservoirs, including Scarab, Saffron, Simian, Sienna, Sapphire, Sequoia, Saurus, Serpent, Mina, Silva, Sienna Up, Sim Sat, Solar, Sama Offshore, and Swan. These reservoirs are undergoing systematic development by the Company in accordance with a development plan designed to sustain both current and future gas supplies for the Egyptian domestic market and the Egyptian Liquefied Natural Gas plant.

In support of ongoing development within the WDDM concession, plans are underway to drill and connect three additional subsea development wells to the existing subsea infrastructure as part of Phase XI project. Notably, this phase introduces the concept of installing three new subsea wells in place of three adjacent existing wells, with each new well featuring an approximately 30-meter subsea jumper connection.
