Could you tell us what your role in Global Maritime entails?
I’m the Technical Lead for Marine Warranty Survey services at Global Maritime Abu Dhabi. My day-to-day involves managing the technical and operational aspects of the MWS services mainly for oil & gas projects in the Middle East. I work closely with various stakeholders to make sure the warranted marine operations are executed safely and in line with industry standards.
I also handle detailed engineering work, such as seafastening design, structural checks for transport vessels, and foundation support for offshore geotech rigs. It’s a mix of hands-on engineering and MWS project management, and I enjoy the balance between technical depth and strategic oversight.
What standout projects have you worked on, and how have they helped shape your career?
Several projects have significantly impacted my career experience. One standout is the Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm, where I was seconded as the Client Site Representative at two major UAE fabrication yards. I oversaw loadouts and sailaway operations for substructures and the offshore substation platform. It was my first major renewables project and gave me a solid foundation in heavy transport logistics and the unique challenges they present.
Another key project was the AL NASR Phase-2 Package 2 in Abu Dhabi. This large-scale project involved installing three topsides weighing between 10,000t and 20,000t using the floatover method, along with jackets, bridges, and deck modules from China and Korea, plus the installation of 3,400km of subsea cable. The project sharpened my technical skills and ability to manage complex MWS operations
Lastly, the ongoing North Field Expansion Project in Qatar. This multifaceted project strengthened my leadership and coordination skills across disciplines and stakeholders, marking a major step in my professional growth.
Can you share a moment when you felt your work directly contributed to a more sustainable future?
Definitely. Working on the Seagreen project was a turning point for me. Being part of a project that’s helping generate over a gigawatt of clean energy felt meaningful. I was involved in the technical reviews and onshore marine operations, making sure everything was executed safely and efficiently.
It was rewarding to know that the work we were doing was directly supporting the shift to renewable energy. It’s one thing to talk about sustainability—but being part of a project that actively contributes to it is something else entirely.
Lastly, what do you enjoy most about working at Global Maritime?
Honestly, it’s the variety and the people. No two projects are the same - one day I’m working on a project cargo MWS in the UAE, the next it’s a field development project in Turkmenistan. That keeps things interesting and constantly challenges me to learn and adapt.
I also value the collaborative environment. We’ve got teams across different regions and disciplines, and there’s a strong culture of knowledge-sharing and support.
