We are delighted to feature Andreas Isaksen, Project Engineer at Global Maritime. Since joining the team in 2022, Andreas has demonstrated a strong passion for marine technology and an unwavering commitment to marine operations excellence. In this article, Andreas offers insights into his career path, the projects that have shaped his experience at Global Maritime, and the inspiration he draws from working in the ever-evolving field of marine engineering and operations.

How has your career evolved at Global Maritime?

I joined Global Maritime in August 2022 after completing five years of engineering studies at NTNU in Trondheim. Since then, I’ve been learning a lot about the project engineer role and gaining a better understanding of what’s expected in larger, more complex offshore projects.

What inspired you to pursue a career within the industry?

I’ve always been drawn to the ocean and fascinated by large vessels and offshore activity. A career in marine operations seemed like the perfect way to turn that fascination into real-world experience and working at Global Maritime has allowed me to do just that.

What has been the highlight of your year at Global Maritime in 2025?

The highlight of my year at Global Maritime in 2025 was being part of the Heidrun STL Decommissioning project. My responsibilities included writing procedures, performing analyses, managing procurement, and even participating in the offshore operation. It was an incredibly rewarding experience and a lot of fun!

What standout projects have you worked on, and how have they helped shape your career journey?

The standout project I’ve worked on at Global Maritime was the Hywind Scotland project in 2024. I was involved from the planning stage in December 2023 through to my final offshore trip to Peterhead, Scotland, in October 2024. It was a large, intensive project with many tasks to coordinate in a short timeframe. Seeing what we accomplished as a team was incredibly rewarding. I learned a great deal and was proud to apply my knowledge and experience to help drive the project forward.

What attracted you to work at Global Maritime?

What attracted me to Global Maritime was the great variety of projects and the opportunity for engineers to take on diverse tasks. From project planning and procurement to analyses, technical drawings, and simulations, you get to work across many areas. On top of that, there is a low threshold for shaping your work towards what you are truly interested in. That impression has proven true - over my years here, I’ve had the chance to work on an incredibly wide range of projects and tasks.
