Marine and engineering consultancy Global Maritime (GM) are pleased to announce that their OPSIM software has been selected by Corio Generation to support in the production of complex simulations during early phase project development of offshore wind farms.

OPSIM is a proprietary software that Global Maritime have developed over the last ten years. Originally developed to support the specialist consultancy services GM provide, OPSIM is now used widely across the maritime sector and has been under increased demand within the offshore wind sector in particular.

Utilising discrete event simulation methodology, OPSIM is able to produce complex simulations that enable users to develop credible Transport & Installation strategies, mitigate risk and optimise their engineering resources accordingly. OPSIM’s playback mode allows for visualisation of the simulation at a variable speed, in order to verify and QA model behaviour, allowing for maximum confidence in the final results and both cost and risk to be optimised and mitigated respectively.

“OPSIM is continuously evolving, driven by our users’ real-world feedback and requirements, which fuel the product’s innovation.” stated Henry McCann, Software Sales Manager at Global Maritime. “Working together with developers such as Corio, Global Maritime can offer our decades of experience in event simulation to quantify risk and optimise costs for complex operations offshore”.

“Since the implementation of OPSIM here at Corio, there has been significant utilisation across our global portfolio of projects. The software is now fully integrated and delivering exceptional results. We have also received unparalleled support from the GM team,” stated Jordan Page, Marine Manager (Offshore Construction) at Corio Generation.

OPSIM is one example of a suite of software solutions developed within GM. Other examples include GMoor, their specialist frequency domain software which provides mooring analysis.

GMoor has been utilised across the Energy sector for over a decade and is now being optimised to provide complex analysis into the floating offshore wind sector.
