Risk and Consequence-Based Structural Assessment

Our aim is to assist our clients in operating, maintaining and decommissioning existing platforms and in introducing innovative concepts in demanding new locations. We use advanced, consequence-based assessment techniques to enhance our tried and tested expertise with codes and standards:
  • Extension of operational life and/or platform capability for minimal cost.
  • Platform re-assessment and re-qualification.
  • Asset Integrity Management, with optimised inspection, maintenance and repair.
  • Cost-effective platform decommissioning.
  • Establishment of new concepts/locations where only limited experience is available.
  • Updated environmental, foundation or other criteria.
  • Safety Case preparation
To achieve this we provide a wide range of expertise and services:
  • Advanced limit state modelling techniques.
  • Criticality, redundancy and reserve strength evaluation.
  • Risk, safety and reliability analysis.
  • Damage tolerance and mitigation studies.
  • Structural analysis/design/verification.
We are fully versed with allowable stress, LRFD and reliability-based assessment methods. We are contributing to the development of the ISO standards for offshore structures. We use advanced structural, hydrodynamic and foundation models to deal with extreme value, accidental or cumulative load effects. Quasi-static, dynamic time-domain or frequency-domain response prediction methods are used as required. In all applications, non-linearities are recognised and properly accounted for.
