Jacket Analysis
Global Maritime (GM) is a specialist engineering and design house with a lot of experience in the structural design, hydrodynamic analyses and reliability analyses. The company has been involved in re-assessment of permanent and mobile offshore structures and is very often requested to carry out advanced analyses of complex structures and conditions such as collision and progressive collapse studies, grounding and capsizing of vessels, multi-body interactions and enhanced non-linear dynamic time domain analyses.
GM is also approved by the underwriters for conducting rig moves and location approvals of jackup and other mobile offshore units. This means that jackups are analysed for rig moves, set-down and in-place conditions taking into account the non-linear soil interaction etc. Overall, GM probably analyses more than 50 rig locations in a year.
GM has extensive experience in designing and verifying marine operations comprising all temporary phases (load-out, transportation, offshore lifting and installation).
GM has been involved in the re-assessment of a large number of fixed platforms (jackets) to extend their platform lives. The work comprises linear and non-linear structural analyses, probabilistic fatigue, structural reliability and risk based inspection planning, non-linear dynamic analyses and redundancy analyses all with non-linear pile-soil interaction (including multi-layer soils). GM has also evaluated the effect of the rigidity of the joints (Buitrago’s method) and various forms of strengthening the joints by grouting etc. GM has also developed software tools for evaluation of hot spot stresses by Efthymiou’s method, ISO formula for grouted joints, etc.
The company has also just completed the design of two jackup structures. One of them has got a contract with ConocoPhillips as an accommodation unit at the Ekofisk field, while the other is intended for construction support.
The company employs several Phd. candidates within different disciplines such as structural analyses, geotechnical (soils) and hydrodynamics that are utilised as required.
