Vessel Motions

Global Maritime specializes in the prediction of wave induced motions of all types of marine vehicles and floating structures, including semi-submersibles, jack-ups, FPSOs, ships, barges and buoys.

Typical applications include:

  • Predictions of wave induced motions of rigs for use in the design of catenary mooring systems
  • Predictions of design extreme motions for use in structural designs for transportation
  • Predictions of motion responses for use in the statistical analysis of downtime caused by limitations of equipment utilised in weather sensitive marine operations
  • Predictions of wave induced motions for use in the design of fendered mooring systems
  • Assessment of seastate limitations for the location of jack-up rigs at seabed touchdown
  • Derivation of wave and motion induced loadings
  • Structural analysis of marine vehicles

We maintain a range of analysis packages including the combined hydrodynamic and structural simulation package MOSES for motion predictions, GMOPSIM for downtime analysis and TOUCHDOWN for estimating seastate limits for jack-ups going onto location.
