Lifting and Weight Transfers

Global Maritime has experience in the design of, and as warranty surveyors in the approval of, a wide variety of lifting systems for marine structures, such as crane lifts, weight transfers by jacking or ballasting, and upendings. Typical design applications include:

• Design of lift rigging for inshore and offshore lifts
• Determination of dynamic amplification factors for offshore lift systems
• Structural analysis of lifted objects
• Weight transfers from quayside to ship or barge by skidding or trailer
• Analysis of upending of floating objects by crane and/or ballasting
• Weight transfers by ballasting onto and off submersible barges

We maintain a range of analysis packages including the combined hydrodynamic and structural simulation package MOSES for lift simulation, GMUPEND for upending analysis, and STAAD and COSMOS for structural analysis.
