Marine Engineer
Purpose of the role:
To carry out Failure Mode Effect Analysis of Dynamic Positioned vessels in accordance with IMCA guidelines.
Carry out ship board FMEA proving trials and formulate detailed reports.
Conduct annual DP trials and CMID / OVID inspections as required.
Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:
Essential:
- A knowledge and understanding of basic engineering principles
- An engineering background preferably in Marine Engineering
- A good working knowledge of marine components and equipment
- The ability to read and understand schematic drawings
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft software packages: Office, Excel, Word and Outlook
- The ability to work as a flexible and effective team member
- The ability to prioritise tasks, produce accurate work and meet tight deadlines
- Sound written and oral communication skills.
Desirable:
- A good understanding of automation and control systems.
- A good knowledge of High Voltage Systems and Frequency Drives
- Sound commercial awareness
- Experience with vessel audits / inspections.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To be responsible for preparing FMEA’s of DP vessel control systems.
- To be responsible for conducting DP Trials and reporting the results accurately
- To liaise with other team members regarding the development of FMEAs
- To visit Clients and Suppliers as and when required.
- To uphold the Company’s Health & Safety requirements, particularly with regard to agreed codes of practice and safe methods of working.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential:
- Hold First Class Certificate of Competency, or
- Educated to degree or equivalent in Marine Engineering or equivalent appropriate engineering qualification
Desirable:
- Experience on DP vessels
Job-related Knowledge
Essential:
- Knowledge of marine systems
Desirable:
- Knowledge of control engineering.

- Experience of understanding detailed design and engineering work plans
- Experience of DP Vessels
- Communicating through various techniques including written reports, briefings and presentations
